About the Artwork

My Favorite Breed Is Rescue celebrates the joy, individuality, and spirit of adopted dogs everywhere. This cheerful lineup of pups—each with a distinct look and personality—captures the playful energy and unconditional love rescue dogs bring to our lives.

Bright expressions, friendly poses, and a warm, welcoming palette give the artwork a sense of happiness and compassion. Created by Larry Nader, it honors every dog who found a forever home and every person who opened their heart to a rescue.

Above all, the piece offers a joyful reminder: the best breed is not defined by a pedigree, but by the bond formed with a dog who needed you.

Art Creation Story: Why Rescue Is My Favorite Breed

She Chose Us

I have shared my life with eleven dogs, and all but one were rescues. In truth, even that one was a rescue in her own way.

She was a Shiba Inu who had spent nearly five months in a pet-store cage. By the time we met her, she was almost seven months old. We asked the staff to let her out so we could get a sense of her personality. The moment her paws touched the floor, she ran straight into my arms.

That settled it: she had chosen us, and there was no turning back. Although she came from a store, her story was still one of rescue, love, and second chances.

Why Rescue Is My Favorite Breed

The message behind this artwork is simple: rescue dogs are extraordinary companions. They arrive with stories and quirks of their own, along with gratitude and hearts larger than we could ever expect.

My Favorite Breed Is Rescue honors every dog who found a home and every person who chose to provide one. It celebrates the belief that the most loyal and loving companions are defined not by breed, but by the journey that brought them home.
